Development Coordinator

Grounded in nimble and collaborative campaigns in New York State, and based in Albany, our work has been at the heart of nation-leading and market-shifting restrictions on chemicals that threaten our health and planet. 

DUTIES AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Development Coordinator is the organization’s connector who focuses on cultivating the organization’s relationships with donors, primarily individuals and businesses, but also foundations. This is a part-time position, which could grow into a full time position, especially for a successful fundraiser.

Primary purpose of the position is to provide support for the organization’s relationships with individuals, businesses, and foundations that lead to donations that meet the annual budget projections and drive diverse sources of funds, in collaboration with administrative and program staff, especially the Executive Director.

Duties are:

Donor Management

  • Manage the technical aspects of donor relationships, including:

    • drafting and sending digital and print appeals twice a year,

    • developing content to be used as personalized touch points, 

    • maintaining accurate information on current and prospective donors of all kinds in the organization’s CRM (Bonterra), 

    • sending thank you messages.

  • Draft template language for use in different fundraising/relationship building opportunities.

  • Coordinate with the Communications Coordinator to produce consistent content for fundraising and brand recognition (i.e., website, newsletters, fact sheets).

  • Manage the organization’s fundraising calendar.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to increase the organization’s effective fundraising.

  • Participate in the development of the organization’s annual budget with regard to income projections and expenses needed for successful engagement.

  • Track donor giving and provide regular updates on fundraising progress.

Fundraising Event Planning 

  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising events (dinners, receptions, house parties).

  • Manage event budgets, timelines, and volunteer recruitment.

  • In collaboration with Communications Coordinator, develop and disseminate marketing materials and promote events to potential attendees

  • Coordinate follow-up with attendees

Grant Writing and Management

  • Research and track deadlines for relevant grant opportunities.

  • Work with the Executive Director on preparing grant proposals and with the Director of Program Management on meeting grant reporting requirements.

PROFILE

To succeed in this role, we expect you to be adept at forming and deepening relationships and compellingly communicating the value of the work we do. You’ll enjoy working independently and with others. You have the ability to work independently and to take initiative. You will have experience in fundraising through a variety of engagement methods and prioritize relationship-building to secure long-term investments.

You’ll thrive in a small nonprofit environment where multiple priorities must be advanced simultaneously and where collaboration – within and outside the organization – is fundamental and ongoing. You’ll need to enjoy engaging with different online tools and staying abreast of changing online engagement strategies to meet our organization’s needs as technology changes rapidly.

Your role is essential to the success of our mission, and we seek a team player who will be proud to shout the good work of our organization from the rooftops as program staff advance advocacy and educational campaigns at the local, state, and national levels. 

TERMS

  • Permanent position, hybrid work location, and occasional travel.

  • Part time: 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours.

  • Salary commensurate with experience, $25,000-$30,000.

  • Benefits include flexible work schedule and location, unlimited sick/personal time, vacation time, employer-paid health insurance, employer-funded retirement contributions after 2 years.

  • Position is paid twice a month (15th and last day), preferably by direct deposit. 

  • Reports to Executive Director, collaborates with entire team.
